Sophie Skelton's Outlander life, from ballet to ex-boyfriend

Sophie Skelton has been starring in Outlander as Brianna Fraser since 2016, opposing her on-screen husband Richard Rankin, who plays Roger MacKenzie.

While Brianna is an American in the romantic historical drama, the 29-year-old actress was born in Cheshire and previously claimed to mastering the American accent by watching Friends.

She grew raised with two elder brothers, Sam and Roger, and began taking ballet lessons when she was three years old.

Skelton studied dance at the Royal Academy of Dance but also worked hard to pursue a completely different career.

"I was studying to be a surgeon, then I started as a ballerina," she stated to Shondaland.

I started in musical theatre, then stage, and finally TV. "At that point, it was something I had to keep doing because I was supporting family members and I needed the work."

"I continued with university and with acting." I had to figure out a lot of things on my own."

Skelton discovered her true calling in the worlds of musical theatre and acting until later in life.
